Andrew Lear speaks about the representation of ancient Greek pederasty in vase-painting.
Pederasty - erotic relations between adult men and adolescent boys were a central characteristic
of ancient Greek culture and literature, from poetry to comedy to philosophy as well as art.

Beyond Isis and Osiris: Alternate Sexualities in Ancient Egypt Trail – Launch

Tuesday 9 February 6 – 8pm. FREE Ages 18+
This trail considers evidence used to support the existence of homosexuality in ancient  Egypt, walking visitors around objects in the museum.  The trail considers a wide range of subject areas and ages within ancient Egypt including myths and stories that construct Egyptian sexuality.  Objects include a group statue of Akheneten and his family, an Osiris figure and a winged phallus.
